The Washington Nationals travel to Colorado to face the Rockies tonight. The Rockies will send out Jorge De La Rosa while Ross Ohlendorf will start for Washington. Check the MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Colorado took the first game of the series yesterday behind a Carlos Gonzalez three run jack in the fifth inning. The Rockies have now won two in a row and improve their record at Coors Field to 21-14. They send De La Rosa to the mound today who enters with a 7-3 record, 3.38 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He has been a pleasant surprise for the Rockies, winning his last five decisions. In his last start at home against the Padres, he was roughed quite a bit surrendered 11 hits and giving up four earned runs. The Rockies have won the last seven games he has appeared in, however. In his previous two starts at home, De la Rosa has given up just three earned runs in 12 ½ innings pitched. In his last two starts, the Rockies have provided him with a solid 17 runs of support. Colorado has won five of their last seven home games.
With yesterday’s loss, the Nationals drop 7.5 games behind the Braves for first place in the NL East. They have won just four of their last ten and fell to 13-19 on the road this season. The Nats are 2-9 in their last games outside of Nationals Park. Ohlendorf enters with a 7.36 ERA and has started just one game this year. The Nationals did not announce their starter until late last night, that’s how bad it has been for this team.
Both of these pitchers will suffer and the ball will fly around Coors Field tonight. 11 runs is a scary total, but go over at the sportsbooks.
