The Washington Nationals visit the Padres in San Diego for the second day in a row and the two play each day with the last game being Sunday. Find MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Nationals (21-19) are sitting above .500 but are not playing well at this moment in time. Washington has now lost four of their last five games heading in to this series with the Padres. The game on Friday will be the second between the Nationals and Padres in this four game series. In the span of five games in which the Washington Nationals lost four, the squad from the nation’s capital was only able to score ten runs while giving up 17. Gio Gonzalez will start for Washignton on Friday. Gonzalez is 3-2 on the year in his eight starts. The Nationals have lost just three games when Gonzalez has been on the mound but they have lost two out of the last three.
San Diego (18-21 entering Thursday) are coming off a two game winning streak against the Orioles before heading into this series with the Nationals. Previously, San Diego was swept in three games by the Tampa Bay Rays. Burch Smith will start for San Diego. Smith started one other game and made it just one inning after giving up six runs.
Washington is 18-22 against the spread and the Padres are 22-17 ATS.
My pick, in an easy one, is the Nationals. Gonzalez is a very good pitcher while Smith had a rough debut but be sure to first read a sports book review.
